5 of 5 Better instructions for installation March 9, 2026
Reviewer: Dave from Filer, ID
This "door" is basically just a plastic, pre-formed panel that covers up the opening you will be cutting into your existing fender liner! I thought that I had to actually cut this panel for the opening but that is NOT the case.  I wound up using some JB Weld to fix the two cuts I made before realizing that I was wrong! You simply clamp the panel on the engine side of the liner where the filter access will be. You then drill the holes along the OUTER part of the panel into your liner (I went ahead and drilled ALL the holes, which works just fine). You then cut your LINER only where the instructions show "trim area". You will be attaching your liner piece to the plastic via the pins. You then take the entire assembly and attach it to the outer holes you previously drilled - using the push pins (I'm going to use nutserts for easier removal and better attachment. Then when you want to change the filter later, you simply remove the OUTER pins and the whole assemble comes out.

MadJack Diesel Performance Response:
The Installation process is you use the panel as a template. You trace the outside of the panel and mark the holes. Drill the holes then measure 1" less than than the trace or outline you made and that is your cut line. The cut out piece stays attached to the panel, to help with sound deadening, via a row of provided pins. When you remove the panel for filter change you only remove the outside row of pins. The inside row of pins holds the cut out piece to the panel.

Thank You for your purchase and 5 star review!

5 of 5 2015 duramax access panel March 15, 2025

This is a way to make future fuel filter replacement much easier . The kit is pretty good , you can actually install without inner fender well removal . If you're a perfectionist follow the instructions . I installed mine without removing anything except the tire , it can be done with a utility knife and some patience . I laid mine out on the inside of fender well and outlined with soapstone then cut and drilled then reinstalled behind fender well. Also no need to remove air filter tube as a lot of video say I did everything from the top with a 1/4 ratchet swivel and socket . Prefilled fuel filter primed with 2 pumps ! purge bolt on top is a 1/2 '' . Great product !

2 of 5 Push Pins Poor Quality April 4, 2023
Reviewer: Anonymous Person
Push pins very poor quality and almost impossible to thread through the plastic. There is no doubt that they will break when trying to access the filter in the future.  Should be replaced with a more substantial way to attach the access panel.

The Fuel Filter Access door went in without a problem. The extra push-in clips provided was a nice, and allowed me to add a couple more during the installation (and still have "spares"). The new door will also allow for easy access to "drain" any water from the bottom of the filter - while on the road - if I get water contamination during a fill-up.

No issues with install, quality, or function. Access should be large enough. Not sure how long the removable pins will last but they give you extra
